The place where dishes are left to drain and dry gathers bacteria, fungi and other microbes in huge quantities because it is a place always wet and not everyone cleans it often. Therefore it’s better to give maximum attention on how to clean and disinfect your dish drying rack.

There are many kinds of dish drying racks. Unfortunately, all of them gather bacteria and mold unless you often clean them from water and dust. Some of them are dirty from limescale and other minerals, and rust can be a problem fro those made of metal.

It’s important to clean your dish drying rack weekly, to get rid of problems with mold and slime.

Use a solution of one quarter cup of chlorine to 3 liters of water and completely immerse dish drying rack for at least 20 minutes. If your dish drying rack is made of wood, use detergent and rinse again with plenty of water to get rid of the smell.

Leave the dish drying rack to dry and don’t use it until it is completely dry on all sides. Moisture helps the growth of bacteria and fungi.
