DIY Deodorizing Tablet For Your Trash Can

As the summer hits in full force, you might notice that your trash cans are starting to get really smelly. Due to moisture and high humidity, your trash cans will spread an ugly and very odorous smell from your garbage. I don’t know about you but it is not something bearable every time you throw the garbage out. And since I cannot keep it in the house, I thought I should try a deodorizer. Since I also love using my essential oils, this homemade recipe went amazing. Keep reading and see how to make deodorizing tablets to keep your trash cans from getting smelly in the summer.

It is very easy to make, here are the ingredients you will need:

– a cup of baking soda
– 4 tablespoons of water
– 10 drops of cedar essential oil – it is perfect to keep the moths away
– 10 drops of grapefruit essential oil – to get rid of bacteria
– 5 drops of vanilla essential oil for an amazing scent
– you can also add 5 drops of mint essential oil to deter rodents (which, unfortunately, it is necessary for me).

Moreover, you could also add 5 drops of neem oil to also deter little bugs but it is completely up to you. Make sure you have a silicone mold and let’s do this.

Start off by mixing together baking soda and water, but one tablespoon at a time. Make sure you slowly mix while adding the water. Then you can add the essential oils and put the mixture in molds. Press them very tight and allow them to dry overnight. In the next morning, take them out of the mold and store them in a mason jar with airtight lid. You can use it by placing at the bottom of your trash can before putting the trash bag. I also like to hang a tablet on the margin of the trash can to feel it deodorizing.
